ENDLESS HANDBAG: THE ROOTS!

Hey, I'm sure you've all heard or experienced the "Endless Handbag" song, if not the "Endless Handbag Loop" (pretty catchy tunes, eh?). It has become some kind of a theme song for Newgrounds, right?

Well, here's the point. In 1972, Ronnie Foster, a funk/jazz organist, released his first album called Two-Headed Freap. On that album, there is a song called "Summer Song".

Here's the tune:

Do hear it, folks? This is where the melody's from! The baseline, the guitar and the groove is all there. Pretty cool, right? Thank God for sampling!

I just thought it was pretty fun to discover that. Or is it already discovered?

Yeah, it's pretty pretty surprising. :) But a lot of great tunes are built upon samples, so FDA did a great job using the song!

I don't hear the similarity between the loop and that song.
The actual handbag full song, sure, but not the loop.

Well, the baseline is the same (in the loop, it's that deep synth bass), and the melody seems to be built upon the song, or the chords. I'm not saying it's true, but I'm pretty darn sure. :)

Sampling is allowed if it's not money-earning. And it's also allowed as long as nobody notice. So just don't tell anyone, and we're all gonna be safe.

sampling is sick, and almost the entire commercial music industry uses it to some extent. at this point, it's so nearly impossible to make something truly original that bringing up that argument is kind of redundant. It's all been done. Look at The Avalanches, their music is almost JUST sampling, and it's as amazing and original as anything.

That loop uses copyrighted material? I actually think that might be just sheer coincidence. I mean, its a fairly easy to come up with tune, and the only thing that is used is those few notes in the bassline at a quicker tempo. I will ask some mods about this, it is very important.
